2. Membership Start
Your membership begins on the date selected during sign-up unless a future start date has been agreed.
Your membership entitles you to use the facilities included within your chosen membership during our published opening hours, provided your payments remain up to date.
Memberships are personal and cannot be shared or transferred without our written permission.
3. Cooling-Off Period
If you join online or away from the club, you have the legal right to cancel within 14 days.
To exercise this right you must contact Fit Union by email, telephone or in person.
If you have already used the facilities during this period, we may deduct a proportionate amount from any refund to reflect the membership already used.
4. Membership Fees
Joining fees, where applicable, are payable immediately and are non-refundable except where required by law.
Membership fees are collected by Direct Debit or another approved payment method.
By joining, you authorise Fit Union and its payment provider to collect all membership payments due under this agreement.
If your membership has a minimum contract period, you agree to make all payments due during that minimum term.
Failure to attend the gym does not remove your obligation to make membership payments.
5. Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we may attempt to collect the outstanding balance using another payment method securely held on your account.
If payments remain outstanding we may:
suspend your membership;
refuse entry;
cancel your membership;
refer unpaid balances for debt recovery where appropriate.
You agree to keep your payment details up to date.
6. Rolling Memberships
Monthly memberships continue automatically until cancelled.
Fixed-term memberships (such as 3, 9 or 12 months) automatically convert to a rolling monthly membership once the minimum term has ended unless cancelled.
Membership prices may change. We will always give at least 30 days’ notice before any increase takes effect.
7. Cancelling Your Membership
Rolling memberships require 30 days’ notice.
Cancellation requests may be submitted:
by email;
in person at the club;
by telephone.
Cancellation is only effective once acknowledged by Fit Union.
If less than 30 days’ notice is given, one final payment may still be collected before cancellation takes effect.
8. Early Cancellation
Fixed-term memberships may only be cancelled early where Fit Union agrees that exceptional circumstances apply.
Examples include:
permanent relocation more than 15 miles from the club;
long-term illness or injury preventing exercise for more than three months;
pregnancy;
redundancy or significant loss of income;
other exceptional circumstances approved by management.
Supporting evidence may be requested.
9. Membership Freezes
Membership freezes are not guaranteed.
Requests are considered solely at the discretion of Fit Union management.
Supporting evidence may be requested.
Where a freeze is approved, the remaining contract term will resume once the freeze ends.
10. Promotional Memberships
Discounted memberships, promotional offers and promotional codes are subject to eligibility.
Fit Union reserves the right to request proof of eligibility.
Where a promotional code has been used incorrectly or fraudulently, we may:
remove the discount;
amend the membership to the correct price;
cancel the membership application.
11. Joint Membership
Joint Membership is available only to eligible people living in the same household or qualifying immediate family members.
Each individual receives their own membership.
Fit Union reserves the right to request proof of eligibility at any time.
12. Member Responsibilities
Members agree to:
treat staff and members with respect;
use equipment safely;
follow staff instructions;
return equipment after use;
wipe equipment after use;
wear suitable gym clothing and footwear;
report damaged equipment immediately.
Members are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit to exercise.
13. Health & Safety
You participate in all activities at your own risk.
You should seek medical advice before beginning exercise if you have any concerns regarding your health.
You agree to stop exercising immediately if you feel unwell.
Fit Union is not responsible for injuries resulting from misuse of equipment, failure to follow staff instructions or exercise beyond your own capabilities, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
14. CCTV
CCTV operates throughout the premises for the safety and security of members, visitors and staff.
Images are managed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK data protection legislation.
15. Personal Property
Personal belongings are brought into the club at your own risk.
Fit Union accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage unless caused by our negligence.
16. Behaviour & Conduct
Fit Union aims to provide a welcoming environment for everyone.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership immediately where a member:
behaves aggressively or abusively;
harasses, intimidates or threatens staff or members;
damages equipment intentionally;
commits theft or criminal activity;
allows another person to use their membership;
is under the influence of illegal drugs;
repeatedly breaches club rules;
behaves in a way likely to place others at risk.
Termination for serious misconduct will normally be without refund.
17. Changes to Facilities
From time to time we may:
carry out maintenance;
replace equipment;
improve facilities;
change opening hours;
temporarily close parts of the club.
